Dealer

With the news that the UK now uses so much cocaine that traces of the drug have contaminated the drinking water supply, the timing of Ben Dawkins’ new short Dealer is rather apt.
Depicting a night in the life of a London drug dealer, Dealer is an utterly mesmerising and heartbreaking tale.
Beautifuly shot over 2 intensive night shoots, the film was inspired by the music of the critically acclaimed Burial. Specifically, it is set against the soundtrack of Burial’s tune Rival Dealer.
Glassworks London were proud to continue their longstanding partnership with Ben on this film. Graded by Head of Colour Duncan Russell, with Flame by Nina Mosand, The Glassworks team were tasked with putting the finishing touches to what was already a beautifully magnetic narrative.
Deservedly Staff Pick on Vimeo this week, Dealer is a masterful piece of storytelling.
Made with the kind permission of William Bevan aka BURIAL. Thanks to Will, Marcus and all the good people at Hyperdub for their enthusiasm.
